Steven Ruiz:
Nick Schwartz: EAGLES (-2) over Giants
Season record: 1-1
The defending champions have been disappointing all over the field in 2018. Jay Ajayi is out for the year, and Carson Wentz has taken an alarming number of hits since returning – but the Eagles should be able to cope with a Giants defense that’s last in the league in sacks. This game will probably be closer than it should be – especially if Odell Beckham Jr. throws another touchdown bomb – but a field-goal win is good enough for Philly.
Charles Curtis: Rams (-7.5) over BRONCOS
Season record: 0-1-1
I guess that spread accounts for the three points you give to a home team. But … really? I’m supposed to put my faith in a defense that just gave up 34 points to the Jets last week and that’s giving up the 7th most yards per game in the NFL … and trust them to contain Sean McVay’s high-flying offense that’s scored 33-plus in all five of the Rams’ wins? Nope. Not happening.
